Additionally, MetaMask has claimed on its website that its new mobile app would lead to the decentralization of the Internet, as the app will allow users more control over data collection. The date of the launch has not been updated but those interested can check the MetaMask website to be notified of further developments.
MetaMask was founded in 2016 and has so far operated as a browser extension that enabled its users to connect their crypto wallets to websites that are a part of the Ethereum network. In fact, MetaMask has been managing users’ Ethereum wallets and allows them to send and receive ETH through a decentralized application or dApps.
The decision to launch its mobile apps is seen as a big vote of confidence to allow users more security, privacy, and control over their payment transaction information, which are primary features that accompany most mobile apps, unlike direct payments done on websites.
Moreover, with the ongoing talk of Web 3.0, or the decentralization of the Internet, MetaMask is among a league of other crypto tools and companies that are hoping to give users more privacy which has been much debated.
