Billionaire investor and Galaxy Digital founder Mike Novogratz gave away half a bitcoin that he won in an election bet. In a tweet published today Novogratz stated:

I am going to have a lottery for young bitcoiners for that coin. No one can enter who already owns a bitcoin.

Novogratz said that he would give away the BTC which he won from one user who goes by the Twitter handle Stoney Bitson:

I’m thinking of a number between 1-1000. Whoever guesses first gets it.  I’ll have Stoney send directly.  One guess.

Twitter user ‘Adelgary’ won the lottery by correctly guessing the number “826.” According to reports, he chose this number because he lived in China, where the number eight is considered lucky, and because the number 26 represented his birthdate.

However, since Novogratz mentioned in his tweet that the BTC amount would go out to new Bitcoin users, other participants in the so-called lottery contested his call by pointing out that the winner already owns Bitcoin.

Half a Bitcoin is currently worth about $7,495. On 5 November, BTC breached a new target of $15,000 and has risen 10% in the past week, and had even crossed $15,400 range at that time.

Last week, Novogratz, who was a former partner at Goldman Sachs, believed that amid current events, Bitcoin appeared to be stronger – and said that “less fiscal, more Fed,” was “ good for crypto.” In addition to this, Novogratz had predicted that all banks and financial corporations could soon begin to invest funds in BTC and that, now, the Rubicon in BTC adoption had been crossed.
