Bitcoin received a major boost from the adoption perspective as Opera browser reportedly added support for BTC payments on the latest version of its Android App. Opera announced on its official blog, that the browser had added a Bitcoin card to the user’s wallet, enabling them to receive and send money to anywhere from the internet.
Opera consisted of a user base of over 300 million, and the addition of bitcoin payment support from the browser should see increased utilization of Bitcoin in terms of purchasing goods and services from various websites.
The announcement also stated that support for Tron blockchain and Tron DApps was implemented in the new version of the browser.
Charles Hamel, Head of Crypto at Opera, stated,
“We believe that opening our browser to more blockchains, including Bitcoin, is the logical next step to making our solution more relevant to anyone who has a Bitcoin crypto wallet and would like to do things with their cryptocurrencies beyond just keeping them in an account.”
Over the past few months. Opera has been pushing out new developments with respect to Web 3, and before Bitcoin, Opera introduced the use of Ethereum for purchases via its browser. Hamel indicated that the firm was hoping to fast-forward the use of virtual assets as a form of transaction for day-to-day purposes.
Additionally, Hamel indicated that adding Bitcoin payment channels was difficult since it has different use-cases with compared to other assets. The latest app was now synchronized and ready for adoption at press time.
With price stagnation and falling derivatives market, the Bitcoin eco-space was low in moral, and the current development should brighten up the mood of the community.
