Luxury Watchmaker, Frank Muller launches first Bitcoin watch

Swiss luxury watchmaker, Frank Muller has collaborated with an alternative investment company called Regal Assets to release a watch called, Encrypto. This watch is claimed to be the first functional Bitcoin watch.

The watch is said to be designed by Frank Muller, with a dial that features the QR code of Satoshi’s Genesis block address. The official release suggests that the watch each watch comes as a two piece set which includes a unique public address etched on the dial, as well as a sealed USB which contains the private key. This watch also serves as a cold wallet to store Bitcoin which enables the users to check their balance directly through the dial.

 Frank Muller’s regional director Erol Baliyan commented,

 “We always aim to impact the customer at an emotional level and create a bond between the customer and the timepiece. As a brand, we are a trend maker with a solid track record and are not shy when it comes to adopting innovation. Bitcoin is the millennial gold is the perfect marriage between innovation and personal choice.”   

The Swiss watchmaker also suggested that the company is exploring other crypto-themed models which would support other popular cryptocurrencies.

The price of the Encrypto watch starts at $9,800 and goes all the way up to $50,600. The watch is also available in a diamond encrusted version. The watch can be purchased with a credit card, bank transfer and Bitcoin.
