Ethereum Classic’s Summerwill notes problem existed in EEA’s specification work
The Enterprise Ethereum Alliance [EEA], a member-driven standards organization, recently announced its testing of a sandbox to bring about certified, branded, and harmonized business uses by the end of the year, according to reports. The aim of this sandbox is to standardize all Ethereum forks to certain specifications to make them interoperable with each other. Bob Summerwill, Executive Director at ETC cooperative, at the ETC summit had spoken about hyperledger and governance, informing the community of the addition of support to ETC.
Summerwill, while speaking at the summit, had also spoken about the initial differences between the EEA and Ethereum Foundation, adding that they have sorted it all out and are working together towards a mainnet initiative. The Executive Director elaborated,
“So something which has just been announced, and there will be more detail of next week at Devcon in Japan, is a thing that they’re running within the EA called the main net initiative, where they are really, as should have been happening from the very start, looking to apply the resources of those enterprises to a cleaner, better definition of the public network itself for ethereum.”
Summerwill also noted of a problem with the specifications work of the EEA, claiming that the Yellow paper assumed that there was only one network. He also claimed that he would like to participate and all Ethereums should be part of the network. He added,
“There are all these implicit assumptions that are tied to block numbers and things in the spec. So really you want a modular yellow paper, which would say, this is what an ethereum, the Ethereum protocol, and here are some specific instances. So that’s the sort of stuff that I think that we can get to by participating in the EEA”
